Corporate Responsibility - WWF Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a global event organised by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) held on the last Saturday of March annually, inviting individuals, businesses, governments, and communities to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to show their support for action on climate change.

Aviva is Associate Sponsor of Hong Kong's Earth Hour 2009, which held on March 28, 2009. On that night, during 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., over 1,800 buildings and many of Hong Kong's well known neon signs went dark; over 600 companies and organisations, over 160 schools and all universities joined thousands of people across Hong Kong who switched off their lights.

The increasing popularity of the lights out campaign around the world is proof that governments, corporations, and the public are ready to make changes in the fight against climate change. Aviva believes that a united effort to reduce energy consumption and combat air pollution will guarantee benefit for everyone today and the generation of tomorrow.
