Fulfillment ratio for participating policies

What is fulfillment ratio and how to read it?
Fulfillment ratio compares the actual to the illustrated non-guaranteed dividends / bonuses at point of sale. In the calculation of fulfillment ratio, the point of sale is referred to the date the policy is issued and effective. At a particular year, a 100% of fulfillment ratio means that the actual non-guaranteed dividends / bonuses declared to policyholders is the same as the illustrated non-guaranteed dividends / bonuses at point of sale. Given the non-guaranteed nature of dividends / bonuses, a fulfillment ratio can be higher or lower than 100%.

How is the fulfillment ratio related to my policy?
To provide you an overview of dividends / bonuses declaration history, the fulfillment ratios show non-guaranteed Annual Dividends, Reversionary Bonuses and Terminal Bonuses on new policies issued in previous 7 calendar years from 2010 to 2016 for reporting year 2017. Fulfillment Ratios are calculated at the policy anniversary in the reporting year 2017. These historical results for non-guaranteed Annual Dividends, Reversionary Bonuses and Terminal Bonuses are intended for reference purpose only and should not be taken as indicator of future dividends/bonuses declaration of the participating products. The actual fulfillment ratios in future may be higher or lower than the historical fulfillment ratios.

What is fulfillment ratio for Reversionary Bonuses?
The fulfillment ratio for Reversionary Bonuses is calculated as the ratio of aggregate actual and accumulated non-guaranteed Reversionary Bonuses against illustrated non-guaranteed amounts at the point of sale. Reversionary Bonuses in the table below exclude Terminal Bonuses or Annual Dividends.

What is fulfillment ratio for Terminal Bonuses?
The fulfillment ratio for Terminal Bonuses is calculated as the ratio of aggregate actual non-guaranteed Terminal Bonuses against illustrated non-guaranteed amounts at the point of sale. Terminal Bonuses in the table below include but are not limited to terminal dividend and terminal bonus (excluding Reversionary Bonuses or Annual Dividends).

What is fulfillment ratio for Annual Dividends?
The fulfillment ratio for Annual Dividends is calculated as the ratio of aggregate actual and accumulated non-guaranteed Annual Dividends against the illustrated non-guaranteed amounts at the point of sale. Annual Dividends here in the table below include but are not limited to annual dividend and non-guaranteed annual income (excluding Reversionary Bonuses or Terminal Bonuses).

Please refer to your policy contract regarding which term(s) of non-guaranteed benefit(s) is/are applicable to your policy.

Please refer to the assumptions used in fulfillment ratio calculation which is stated at the end of this page.

For the purpose of calculation of fulfillment ratios, it is assumed that:

  • Cash values of Reversionary Bonuses and Terminal Bonuses are used; and
  • Policies that had applied reduced paid-up are excluded from the calculation of fulfillment ratios; and
  • All Annual Dividends (if any) declared are left with Aviva and accumulated with interest since policy issuance; and
  • There is no change in sum assured / principle amount / guaranteed annual income of the policy since policy issuance; and
  • Policies with similar fulfillment ratios are presented as one ratio in the table above ; and
  • The base of fulfillment ratio is the latest declared Reversionary Bonuses / Terminal Bonuses / Annual Dividends at the point of sale; and
  • It is applicable to all relevant policies that were inforce at the end of reporting year 2017.

Fulfillment ratios are shown as "N/A" due to the following reason(s):

  • The product has been closed to sales during 2010–2016; or
  • The product was launched during 2011–2016; or
  • No relevant policy is in–force in the respective policy year ; or
  • The Reversionary Bonuses / Terminal Bonuses / Annual Dividends in the base of calculating fulfillment ratio for the respective policy year is zero and hence the fulfillment ratio is undetermined.

For reporting year 2017 fulfillment ratios, only participating products which have new policies issued in the previous 7 calendar years are shown.
